McDonough Associates is a full-service engineering/architectural firm with a professional and technical staff of approximately 135 employees. Disciplines include civil, structural, environmental, mechanical, electrical, construction engineers, planners and architects with a support staff of surveyors and construction inspectors.
Our goal is to provide the highest quality professional services and to exceed our client’s expectations with innovative, creative and cost-effective solutions as well as completing all projects on-time and on-budget. During its history, McDonough Associates has completed more than 1,800 engineering and technical projects with a total value in excess of $5 billion for a client base of more than 500 organizations including both governmental and private sector clients.
The company was founded in 1966 as Murphy Engineering, Inc., a subsidiary of the nationally known architectural group. In 1974, Mr. James J. McDonough became president of the firm. Under his direction, the firm has grown from 30 employees to its present size and expanded its capabilities to include environmental, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering as well as an extensive architectural practice. In 1980, the Murphy interests were purchased and the firm name was modified to McDonough Associates Inc. to reflect the broader range of consulting services.
